Privacy policy
Your audio is yours.
So is the control.
In short: Feat keeps analysis, editing, project storage, and export on your device. If you explicitly choose high-quality vocal/instrumental separation, only the selected track is sent for temporary GPU processing; the source is deleted when processing ends and results within 60 minutes.
1. Scope
This policy covers the Feat iOS/iPadOS app distributed through the App Store and the Feat web studio. Last updated: October 2, 2026. For privacy questions, email info@featstudio.app.
2. Data we do not collect
Feat uses no advertising, tracking technology, or third-party analytics SDK; it does not sell your data or use your audio for advertising, profiling, or training AI models.
To protect high-quality separation from abuse, Feat creates a technical anonymous session that asks for no email, name, or phone number. Its random user ID and access token are used only for authentication, hourly limits, and returning a separation result to the correct user.
3. Songs, recordings, projects, and exports
On iOS, Feat accesses only audio you select through Apple's system file picker. A copy can be stored in Feat's private on-device project area so you can reopen the project. BPM, key and section analysis, timeline editing, and playback happen on the device. Deleting a project removes its local source and voice-recording copies.
On the web, source audio, project settings, and microphone recordings can be stored in the browser's local IndexedDB database. They are removed when you delete the project or clear site data.
When you choose “High-quality separation,” Feat explains the transfer and asks before uploading. Only a copy of that track goes over an encrypted connection to the GPU processor. The source is deleted when processing completes or fails. The client requests early deletion after downloading the vocal and instrumental results, and automatic deletion occurs within 60 minutes in every case. The quick beta preview remains on-device.
WAV and social-video exports are rendered on your device only after you start the export. A file leaves the app or browser only when you download it or choose a sharing destination. Feat does not monitor those destinations.
The original demo tracks bundled with Feat are provided only for trying the product.
4. Microphone
The microphone is used only when you start Record and grant permission. The recording is processed locally and added to the timeline; it is not sent to the GPU service unless you separately select it for high-quality separation.
You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone, or through the browser's site permissions. All features except recording your own voice remain available without microphone access.
5. Local preferences and optional pilot metrics
Simple preferences—such as whether you completed the product tour and which language you selected—can be stored in Feat's app container or the browser's local storage. They are not tied to your identity or sent to Feat.
If you explicitly enable “Measure on my device,” Feat stores a limited set of pilot events locally, such as song pair loaded, template applied, first play, and export completed. These records contain no song names, audio, microphone recordings, email, IP address, or persistent device identifier. The report leaves the device only if you choose to export, download, or share it.
6. Support communication
If you email us, we use your email address, message, and anything you voluntarily attach only to answer the request and troubleshoot the issue. Support correspondence is kept only as long as needed. You can request deletion by emailing the same address. You do not need to send an audio file for us to investigate a problem.
7. Service providers and sharing
The website is hosted by Vercel. Supabase provides the anonymous session and access token. Optional high-quality separation runs on Feat's GPU service hosted by Modal. These providers may process standard technical data—such as IP address, request time, device/browser type, and error logs—for security and operations under their own policies. Audio content is sent only to the temporary Modal separation job.
During this optional operation, the audio file may be transferred to Modal's private temporary storage layer in the United States, while GPU processing may run in one of Modal's available compute regions. The source is deleted as soon as processing finishes, and generated files are deleted within 60 minutes. Feat sends providers only what is needed to provide the service and does not sell personal data.
8. Retention, deletion, and permission controls
Feat has no central project or permanent audio repository. GPU input is deleted when processing ends and results within 60 minutes. The anonymous authentication record is removed within 30 days; its local access token is also removed when you clear the app or site data.
On iOS, deleting a project removes the project's local audio and recording copies. Exported WAV files can be deleted from Files > On My iPhone/iPad > Feat. Deleting the app removes Feat preferences, projects, and documents that you have not copied elsewhere.
On the web, delete an individual project from Projects, or remove all local projects, preferences, and pilot metrics by clearing the site's browser data. The pilot report can also be deleted from Projects > Anonymous pilot metrics settings. Downloaded files can be removed from the browser's Downloads area. The iOS pilot report can be deleted from About & Support.
9. Children's privacy
Feat does not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian can contact us through the address above with a privacy question.
10. Changes
If the data flow, providers, or retention periods materially change, this policy will be updated before the feature is used and consent will be requested again where required. The current revision date appears at the top of this page.
